Las plantas y la primavera

We started talking about plants (plantas) and spring (primavera), including parts of plants, what plants need, how they grow, etc... Some plants we observed outside are flores, pasto, arboles y arbustos. We "planted" bean seeds (semillas) by putting them in bags with wet cotton balls and taping the bags to our windows. This shows the children that we need a seed for a plant to grow and the plant needs water, nutrients, air and sun to grow.
We also sang a song called Que llueva, que llueva:
Que llueva, que llueva,
la Vieja de la cueva.
Los pajaritos cantan, la madre se levanta.
Que sí, que no, que llueva un chaparrón
We sang the song a little too well because the next week it started raining and it rained all week long giving enough water to all the plants around us! That also meant that we stayed inside to play when it was raining outside.
The children also enjoyed playing with instruments, drawing with colored pencils and painting...
...reading books, doing puzzles, building with blocks...
