Las comidas = Foods

In April we are having fun talking about different foods (comidas) we eat and learning the names of those foods. The children also like to pretend to eat together outside at the picnic table. They "eat" the pretend foods they make out of sand, flowers, leaves, grass, small sticks, rocks, etc they find outside. Some of the foods they "made" were pancakes (panqueques), birthday cake (pastel de cumpleaños), cookies (galletas), soup (sopa), etc.

When the children trace on their sheets with their pencils, they are building skills for letter-formation, pre-writing and writing.
When the children are making bracelets with smaller sized beads, they are developing their fine motor skills.

This week we also started working on forming short Spanish words with letters. Some of our words are yo, tú, sí, no, mi, fue, uno, dos, tres, mesa, cara, etc.
We formed the letter M with bendable wax sticks and practiced pronouncing words that start with M: mamá, medias, mono, mano, muletas, mesa, etc.
